Mugging the Monster - TV Tropes
DEATH BATTLE!: Most of these fights occur with the loser seriously underestimating their opponent. They paid the price with their lives.
Barry Allen vs. Quicksilver starts off with Quicksliver gloating about his racing prowess and punches the Flash in the attempt to cheat. Once over the pacfic ocean, Barry proves that he was holding back the entire time and gives him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown. It ends with Quicksliver accidentally dying by being impaled on a Japanese statue.
Carnage vs. Lucy starts off with Lucy (as Nyu) waiting for a train... whose passengers have been slaughtered by Carnage. As soon as the doors open, Carnage immediately lunges at the innocent-looking horned girl. He bites off more than he can chew when she stops him midair and tears him to pieces with her vectors (which didn't stick at all) and when she later hits him with a nuclear bomb-level attack (which did).
Aang vs. Edward Elric has Edward falsely accusing Aang of calling him short and tries to kill him for it. He pays the price when Aang goes into the Avatar State and obliterates him with an attack of all four elements.
After getting his ice cream destroyed when Sailor Galaxia blew up the Earth while he was on it, Beerus confronts her. Her response? Insult him by poking his eyes. He quickly teaches her he was not to be messed with by turning her into Ludicrous Gibs and having her pieces be sucked into a black hole.
Venom vs. Crona has Venom encounter Crona and Ragnarok entering the church while he was praying and thinking Crona would be easy prey, attack them. Unfortunately for them, Crona's sound-based weapon ensured Venom's demise (although the first attempt was shrugged off due to Venom being a distance away and had a Healing Factor, the next attempt succeeded with Venom being pinned down unable to escape a close-up max power attack from Crona's soundwave attack).
The Incredible Hulk vs. Broly starts off with Hulk going out of his way to deliberately provoke a meditating Broly for no reason other than simple bull-headed bravado. When the fighting starts, Broly quickly closes the power gap between them and rips his head off. It evolves into Bullying a Dragon when the Hulk continues to attack and goad Broly despite this, who later proceeds to overwhelm and obliterate him so thoroughly that even his Resurrective Immortality couldn’t bring him back.
During their match up, Homelander provokes Omni-Man via breaking into his home and killing his wife, assuming that he could just intimidate Omni-Man into obeying his demands to leave. Omni-Man, however, is barely phased by Homelander's threats and quickly shows the Number One Supe just how outclassed he in one of the shortest fights of the show's history, which results in a very nasty death for Homelander, who only realizes how royally he screwed up seconds before Omni-Man ends him. The hosts point this out in the post-fight analysis, comparing the fight to a bully picking a fight with a trained soldier.
After pulling a Kill Steal on him, Michael Myers attempts to make Jason Voorhees his next victim. As he quickly learns, however, Jason is borderline unkillable and has zero problems matching Michael in both strength and speed. In the end, Jason winds up making Michael his own victim.
Killua VS Misaka has Misaka telling Killua to give back her lost Gekota badge. He, not knowing who she is, smugly taunts her to take it. The resulting fight ends with him blown into Ludicrous Gibs and the badge falling right into the exhausted Misaka's hand, and the post-analysis reiterates that Misaka is a Person of Mass Destruction with output and arsenal far outclassing his own.

k got it it to work finally- ;-;
It’s been a while since i watched death battle since i usally watch it with my dad so the ones i remeber seeing were..
Sora vs Pit
Weiss vs Mitsuru
Tanjiro vs jonathan joestar
Mega man battle royale
She-ra vs wonderwomen
Carnage vs Lucy
Gogeta vs Vegito
Beerus vs Galaxia
Venom vs Crona
Trunks vs Sliver (one of the first ones i watched)
Danate vs Bayonttoa
Cable vs (i forgot the dude’s name-)
Uh i think that’s it yea.
//Booster Gold. That’s who fought Cable.
//Honestly this is full of solid matchups and some of their better episodes.
//The problem with Death Battle is that people take it way too seriously, and a lot of hatred and spite is directed towards it for stuff that doesn’t really matter.
//For me personally, I don’t care about who wins the fights, I care about the fights and the videos being entertaining, and they largely are.
//It kind of relates back to the conversation we had about internet bullshit just now. As they said in a whole ass episode where they straight up addressed the controversy around their show, the whole point of Death Battle is basically the professional version of slamming action figures together and having fun with it, but of course, lots of people didn’t care to listen to that.
//Bowser Vs Eggman should be proof enough that this show is still worth watching because the episode is easily one of, if not, THE best one they’ve ever done, and even outside the series itself, it’s a cinematic masterpiece that you should watch, even if you’re not a Death Battle fan.
//Not that I will force anyone to do that. Just a friendly recommendation.
//Also, the fact that you watch it with your dad is pretty cool.

DEATH BATTLE LIVES!!!
That's right, Boomstick! With $737,442 raised (almost 10 times the initial goal!) Death Battle gets to keep going on strong! And in commemoration of the Kickstarter wrapping up, I might as well give my thoughts on all the matchups confirmed through the stretch goals!
Bardock vs Omni-Man (Dragon Ball vs Invincible):
Feels a bit wrong seeing Omni-Man again after only two years, not gonna lie. But at least this time around, he'll actually have some kind of challenge to face in an old-school Saiyan. (Watch them somehow still squeeze in that damn universe shockwave feat)
Bowser vs Eggman (Super Mario vs Sonic the Hedgehog):
The fact that they squeezed in a reference to Eggman's announcement and Bowser's Hotel Mario meme face was perfection. And the animation preview looks absolutely sick. Let's just hope that Bowser got whatever he had on the Moon in Odyssey off there, because we all know what's coming to it...
Kratos vs Asura (God of War vs Asura's Wrath):
The eternal bridesmaid finally gets its chance to shine! And honestly, I don't exactly get the hype around it all to much. I mean it can be cool, yeah, but second place in both Championship polls? How? Not only that, but remember when Kratos' most wanted opponent was Dante instead of Asura? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Mahito vs Shigaraki (Jujutsu Kaisen vs My Hero Academia):
I haven't watched MHA since season 4 and have never seen JJK so I have nothing to say.
Aang vs Traveler (Avatar: The Last Airbender vs Genshin Impact):
I'm not to hyped on this one either. I don't watch Avatar, and while I like a good few characters in Genshin, the Traveler is one I'm neutral on (Not to mention how I dipped out of the story mid-way through Sumeru). I guess it could be cool, but to me, this one is a bit more filler-like in my eyes.
Ash vs Yugi (Pokémon vs Yu-Gi-Oh!):
Aside from the episode 200 factor, this one is really interesting due to the many ways they could handle it. Since it likely won't be Ash and Yugi themselves throwing hands, it all comes down to what "monsters" are brought onto the battlefield. Obviously, we'll have Pikachu and Dark Magician, but we could also get Ash-Greninja, or Exodia the Forbidden One! Hell, maybe even "weaker" ones like Rowlet or Pot of Greed, which allows Yugi to draw three additional cards from his deck and place them in his hand!
Simon the Digger vs Kyle Rayner (Gurren Lagaan vs DC):
Welcome one of the most infamously back-and-forth toxic debates, in my eyes. While not on the same caliber as Bill vs Discord or Joker vs Giorno, I've seen the tides of debate shift on this so many times. And I... don't really care all that much. The White Lanterns are an area of DC I'm not that familiar with, and I tried watching Gurren Lagaan a few years back but lost interest after the time skip. Not only that, but I feel like the main reason people got interested in this matchup is because of Will of the Drill, and people, lemme break it to you; It's probably not gonna get used in the actual episode. Not saying it absolutely won't, but the chances are slim.
Ruby vs Maka (RWBY vs Soul Eater):
While I've only seen the first 4 volumes of RWBY and know nothing about Soul Eater outside of Venom vs Crona, I guess this one could be interesting. Though I can almost guarantee you that there will be some kind of scythe-lock moment in the fight. It's practically inevitable.
Hulk vs Godzilla (Marvel vs Toho):
I feel like I'm one of the few people who are actually into this matchup. Most people I've seen talk about it online are usually either neutral or flat-out dislike it. Or even weirder, only like it if its MCU Hulk vs Monsterverse Godzilla (And I have no idea why) but I'm really down for this. Here's to hoping Hulk grabs big G by the tail and gives him the Puny God treatment.
Gru vs Megamind (Illumination vs Dreamworks):
WOOOOOOO!! YEAAAAAH, BAYBEEEEEE! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about! WOOOOOOOO!
But seriously, I'm really happy this episode is finally happening. While it's not my most wanted episode (Infinity Ultron vs Heaven Ascension DIO), my second-most wanted episode (Borg vs Cybermen), and so on and so-forth, this one can still be a grand old time. It'll also likely be an easy wash for Megamind so long as he, y'know... S H O O T S G R U W I T H T H E D E H Y D R A T I O N G U N ! !
And with that, that only leaves us with one episode slot to cover... kinda: the fan-voted rematch slot. Since this one has yet to be decided, I'll tackle this one by saying which episode I'd vote for. And that would be...
Shadow vs Mewtwo (Like a good amount of people seem to be going with)
Hey, I can't help it if that episode sucked and deserved better for such a fitting matchup. It's at least a tad more interesting of a revisit than Master Chief vs Doom Slayer. Not to mention how Shadow's new Doom powers could shake things up from the first time around.
But nevertheless, the future of Death Battle is looking bright, and I look forward to analyzing a bunch of characters weapons, armor, and skills once more.

Red vs Blue is going to be a curbstomp on behalf of the Blue Team. At the end of the last episode, the core three members of each team were shown. Let's do a little analysis:
RED
Sarge:
Sarge's greatest strength is his courage, shown best in him standing down the Meta in season 8. He also survived a sniper round to the head, which is impressibe, but it knocked him out, which is basically death in a fight. But, beyond having planet sized balls, Sarge is really just a guy with a shotgun.
Simmons:
Simmons is probably the weakest red, with no unique combat feats. He does wield a rocket launcher, which is nice, but he's never shown to be particularly adept with it. He's the red team's tech guy, yes, but he's nothing compared to Epsilon.
Grif:
By far the toughest of the Reds. Grif has insane durability feats, like the time he got blown up and thrown off the vahlalla base, or getting punched by tex a dozen times. Grif also has access to future cubes and the disintegration gun, which are the only way the Reds could take out certain blues. If they give the reds the jeep, Grif and Simmons are deadly together. But, that would presumably mean that the blues get Shiela, who is deadlier.
BLUE
Church/Epsilon:
Classic Church is useless in combat. But, if they allow his reincarnation Epsilon, Church is the most dangerous member of the original cast, basically immortal and able to control minds. He also has the ability to amplify other characters's abilities tenfold.
Tucker:
Tucker is consistently shown to be the best fighter of the sim troopers, having held up against the Meta the longest, fought Felix toe to toe, defeated Wyoming, and survived against CT for months. He's a master sniper and wields a sword that negates the Reds' armor. And if they give him the Hephestus (Meta) Armor...
Caboose:
Caboose is the physically strongest sim trooper. He's dumb, but he can slaughter entire armies if angry (something Epsilon can make him instantly). In addition, his Freckles Rifle makes him the best shot on the team. Now, there are other team members not shown in Venom v Crona, but that would only make things better for the Blues
RED Backup
Donut:
The deadliest of the reds. Almost as tough as Griff, and able to throw grenades with deadshot accuracy from half a mile away.
Lopez:
Tough to kill, but easy to behead. Little combat experience.
BLUE Backup
Tex:
An unstopable killing machine that once defeated the entire core red team, plus tucker, without breaking a sweat. Even if they don't give her superstrength, she's still the best fighter of the original cast.
Wash:
Wash isn't very flashy, but he's still a freelancer, and a better all around fighter than any of the Reds.
Carolina:
Stronger than the meta and tex, both of whom defeated all of the reds with ease. Nuff said.
Sister:
Not really great in a fight, but she'd keep Grif from fighting back.
TL;DR Red is dead

Any thoughts on the newest Death Battle, Crona vs Venom?
I don’t know ‘Crona’ - I didn’t bother watching the pregame stat stuff on this one - but apparently they’re very powerful and their sword has a supersonic scream so sure, makes sense to me.

DEATH BATTLE Review: Venom vs. Crona
Two on two that are within one! Who will win, who will lose?
Venom′s Preview.
We open on a history lesson, about the Klyntar. And how they were a peaceful race that kicked out a loser named Venom. Who went through a multitude of different hosts. From heroes, to villains, to… Deadpool.
Tumblr media
And then the Symbiote met Spider-Man.
Tumblr media
And, after a lot of adventures, Peter got rid of the thing because it was a creepy goop monster. After this, the Symbiote bonded with one Eddie Brock.
Whose life was screwed from the start.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Between an abusive dad that blamed him for his mother’s death, and having terminal cancer, the guy had nothing to lose and everything to gain by joining with the Symbiote.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from the powerset he got from Spidey, the hosts go over his other abilities, like camouflage, shapeshifting, and 360° vision, and all that other stuff. We get into our first animated segment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, to be fair, Wiz is kinda right.
Tumblr media
After going over their feats, they go over his past a bit more.
Tumblr media
After accidentally killing a kid after stealing his dad’s car, he was told to plead innocent, and rig the jury. So, he’s been carrying around that guilt ever since.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And on the road to redemption, Venom and his host have fought and gone through a lot of crazy things. From fighting off most of Spidey’s rogues gallery to tanking a sonic blast that shattered glass miles away.
And… Some really weird convoluted comic book bullshit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After fighting the Symbiote God that tried to turn them all into living weapons, Venom has proven himself a hero in his own right. Even teaming up with Spider-Man on occasion.
Tumblr media
Sure, he’s always hungry for brains, but with Eddie’s influence, he’d rather bite the head off of a criminal than an innocent.
Tumblr media
Crona′s Preview.
The hosts open up on the history of the world of Soul Eater, which, for those of you unfamiliar, is very… weird. Death is a goofy-looking dude who opened a school where warriors trained to stop evil.
Of the many characters, Crona Gorgon… Was not one of them.
Tumblr media
Crona basically had your typical power-hungry abusive mother, who basically tried turning the poor kid into a living weapon… And by living weapon, I don’t mean the ones that actually turn into weapons, I mean the… uncomfortable kind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crona’s weapon is Ragnarok (Which I have now recently realized I misspelled numerous times in the captions, so… Apologies).
Tumblr media
With all that power at their finngertips, Crona and Ragnarok became a formidable team. And that leads into the animated segment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after going over some bonuses of how the powerset works, what with the whole “eating souls” thing, we go into even more powers. Specifically, of the Black Blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From being able to project Madness onto others, to shapeshifting, to all sorts of sonic attacks, Crona has some major firepower under their metaphorical belt.
In addition, they go over how Crona has gone up against plenty of Death Academy students like Death the Kid, Maka, and Black☆Star (And for those of you wondering, yes, the star in his name is the official spelling.
Tumblr media
Now, Death the Kid could reach supersonic speeds, and Black☆Star is eveen faster.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Crona can keep up, this means that they’re in the same ballpark of speed.
And all that Black Blood is also really damn powerful and plentiful.
Tumblr media
It could cover this entire city, given similar comparisons to other similar cities in the area, that’s nearly 10,000,000,000,000 tons of Mad Blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thankfully, through the power of friendship and good feelings, Crona ended up saving the world. And made a new kind of Madness that… made everyone obsessed with boobs.
Tumblr media
The Battle Itself.
Luis is lead on this fight. Venom will be reprised by Adam Wennick, Crona will be voiced by Sarah Anne Williams, and Ragnarok will be voiced by John Van Doren. “Madness Envenom” by Brandon, and audio led by Chris Kokkinos.
We open on a church, where there’s a single person praying before Crona comes in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I gotta say: Mad props to the animator who is working on Ragnarok, that is some quality movement. You can’t tell because this is a screenshot, but the animation on Ragnarok is pretty fluid.
Anyways, it turns out the person who was there first was Eddie. And, in true Season Seven fashion, the fight starts because of food. Because why not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a very brief back and forth, Venom manages to trap Crona.
Tumblr media
But, they’re a tough cookie, and they manage to blast away and make some distance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this being a sound attack, it deals some significant damage to Venom.
Tumblr media
I am so glad I managed to pause it here. This is an epic shot.
And I guess Luis was watching some Jojo, because we get a punch clash.
Tumblr media
Venom manages to get by, and camouflages to get the drop on them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five Nights at Venom’s.
Venom manages to get in a hit, but the Black Blood is a bit too tough for Venom to beat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fitting for a Halloween episode, there’s blood everywhere.
Anyways, the fight takes to the skies, where neither seems to have a specific advantage… Aside from Crona managing to get in a few more licks in and block more hits than Venom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crona manages to take the fight back into the church.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five Nights at Crona’s.
Venom decides to boast one more time before, uh, well…
Tumblr media
Yeah, finishing blow in
5…
4…
3…
2…
1…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verdict + Explanation.
Anyways, Boomstick makes our second Lucy vs. Carnage callback.
Tumblr media
Now, Wiz notes that the only advantage Venom had was shapeshifting, camouflage, and weapon versatility. That’s literally it. Venom was screwed everywhere else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crona could match Black☆Star, who could get to Mach 9000.
Tumblr media
Compared to Venom matching Spidey 2099, who only has Mach 2000, that’s a pretty clear speed difference.
Tumblr media
Strength was another. Venom hasn’t displayed anything comparable to Crona opening the Moon’s mouth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And really, with the Black Blood, Venom couldn’t pull any puppeteering tricks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, the big one: Could Venom survive Crona’s sonic attacks?
Now, the sonic attack that nearly killed him that shattered glass miles away is a good high point to gauge. That clocks in at about 244 dB. Crona’s feat of covering the moon clocks in at 275dB.
Tumblr media
And if you remember anything from Black Canary vs. Sindel, sound changes on the logarithmic scale. So Crona’s attack was over a thousand times more powerful than the blast Venom barely survived.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall impression.
Magento vs. Robot Man anyone?- I mean… That’s the impression this episode gave me. Like… I know that Ben was largely unfamiliar with Soul Eater going in, and I can assume that the same can be applied to a few of the other team members, but… really? Why not pit Robotboy against EMP Man? How about seeing who wins between Sandman and Juvia? The only way this can feel like it wasn’t “My Weakness is Sound man” vs. “Has Sound as an Explicit Weapon Person” is if the big question was “Could Venom survive Crona’s sonic attack?” They don’t put much emphasis on it, so it feels like they knew going in that Crona would utterly destroy Venom. And while I’m not inherently against fights that are basically stomps (Hell, I still enjoy Flash vs. Quicksilver), they really should have put more emphasis on that question if they didn’t want it to feel like it was one-sided.
I’m happy that Soul Eater is getting some rep before the inevitable Ruby vs. Maka fight (Uh, more money on Maka please), but I was honestly expecting Black☆Star to make it in before Crona. And even then, I would have thought that they would do something more creative than “Black Goopy buddies that bonded with a human host”
I tend to rag more on matchups than I do on animation, and I’ll be real: The animation is still good. Ragnarok is well-done, and they definitely landed the creepy factor quite well.
My own first viewing was a bit tainted because my own mother demanded that I not spend time for myself and instead sit at a table listening to her and my dad talk about  whatever, so my own feelings are a bit skewed because I had to watch this in a rush. Just a little disclaimer.
8.7/10
Next Time…
Speaking of ragging on matchups…
Tumblr media
Can anyone vouch for having wanted this? Or, failing that, can anyone vouch for having seen this as a suggestion in the comments section?
Is there a fight that you want me to review? - Send an ask/request, and I’ll look into it!
Do you want to read my fanfic based around DEATH BATTLE itself? click here!
Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you next time for…
Red vs. Red… Blue vs. Blue… It’s I against I, and me against you…

They actually made a Death Battle with Crona vs. Venom. Venom got bodied even without considering his weakness to sonic attacks.
... safe to say Ruby's probably gonna lose if the Silver Eyes don't work.
Death Battle Idea:
The Immortal Struggle
Tumblr media
Salem, RWBY's Black Queen of the Grimm
Tumblr media
Aku, Samurai Jack's shape-shifting master of darkness
---------------------------------------------------
My thoughts - Aku wins
Aku has the ability to transport people in time. Though Ashi was the only one who travelled back in time using his powers as his daughter, there is no evidence to show Aku could not also travel back in time to before Salem had turned, ending the battle long before it ever began.

Note
Did Link and Cloud ever get around to talking about Alternate Timeline regards insofar as the two differing Timeline versions of their fights got showcased, yet? Looks like it's time for them to do so unless there's a crisis going on.
There’s a Crisis. All combatants prior to Beerus’ battle with Galaxia are currently stuck in an alternate universe that is stopping them from being aware of what’s going on.
In Cloud and Iron Man’s conversation, they explicitly make fun of the notion of “Sound as an explicit weakness man” fighting “Sound as an explicit weapon person.” As in, they’re making fun of the notion that Venom vs. Crona could be a thing.
